How to Help | Como Ayudar
From one of the people we serve:
“I didn’t know where to go, then I realized this was the Center of Help, so I came here. They make you feel like you’re not by yourself. I’m glad they’re here.”
For more than ten years, we have been the area’s only non-profit charitable organization to help families assimilate successfully into U.S. culture — assuring that these New Americans become employed, educated and fully participating members of society.
You’ll be helping to fund services for more than 4,500 individuals and families every year — services that assist these resilient and hardworking people to grow toward self-sufficiency. At the same time, they also become even more valuable contributors to our community and economy. Your contribution lifts up our entire region in a very real, practical way.
Our community’s Latino population is growing rapidly. So is the demand for our services. But cuts in public funding have created an uncertain future. We now rely on private contributions and grants for 100% of our funding – including the operating funds that keep our doors open. The Center of Help is at a critical juncture. Without operating support, we will be forced to cut or cease programs.
The Latino population in Anne Arundel County is growing at a much faster pace than the general population. Between 2000 and 2010, our county is expected to grow by about 70,000. That’s about a 14% increase. The Latino population, however, will grow to more than 20,000 people – an increase of 70%.
That’s up to you. It could go to operating costs or underwrite vital staff. You may choose to fund a
particular program. Regardless, you can be certain that your donation will be used efficiently and effectively.
To stretch your donation dollars even further, we also make excellent use of community partnerships and help
immigrants tap into public and government human services.
